This deep wine has aged and developed aromas of cedar, soy sauce, anise, chocolate, and coffee beans with flavors of dark berry, cigar box, earth, and sweet and sour notes that intermingle with smooth, soft tannins.  This Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is peaking and ready to enjoy now with close friends and family. Enjoy this wine through 2023.

WINEMAKER NOTES

The Reserve Cabernet program was started at Whitehall Lane Winery in 1984. Since that time, fruit primarily from the Rutherford and St. Helena appellations has been ‘Reserve’ designated. The 2009 vintage is primarily a blend of the winery’s Fawn Park Vineyard, Millennium MM Vineyard and Leonardini Vineyard fruit. The small amounts of Malbec and Petite Verdot add color, depth and complexity to this classic offering. The wine was aged in 80% French and 20% American oak barrels for 25 months and was bottled in December 2011.

THE VINTAGE

The 2009 growing season was incredible in our Napa Valley vineyards. We experienced mild weather patterns during bud break and flowering, leading to an excellent crop of grapes. An ideal summer of bright sunshine without extreme heat made for an uneventful yet spectacular growing season.
