The 2011 Leonardini Cabernet has deep, dark color and aromas of black cherry and toasty oak. The texture is rich with ample tannins filling the midpalate and adding length to the finish. This wine is delicious and will continue to develop with proper cellaring through 2025.

WINEMAKER NOTES

Our Leonardini Vineyard Cabernet comes from one of our most prized vineyards and is the owner’s namesake. Out of the 10 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon planted on this property, winemaker Dean Sylvester hand selected the fruit from eight vine rows to be used for this single vineyard bottling. This vineyard is located on the western side of the valley floor in the St. Helena AVA, which is celebrated for its exceptional gravelly-loam soil.

THE VINTAGE

Like 2010, the 2011 growing season was relatively cool in St. Helena. The grapes developed slowly from spring to summer, with smaller berries and thick skins for concentrated flavors, exceptional color and ample structure. The sweetness in the fruit progressed slowly and came into balance with the acid in late October. This block of fruit was harvested on Halloween 2011.
