WINEMAKER NOTESOur Leonardini Vineyard Cabernet comes from one of our most prized vineyards and is the owner’s namesake. Out of the 12 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon planted on this property, winemaker Dean Sylvester hand selected the fruit from seven vine rows to be used for this single vineyard bottling. This vineyard is located on the western side of the valley floor in the St. Helena AVA, which is celebrated for its exceptional gravelly-loam soil.
THE VINTAGEIt all began in our Leonardini Vineyard in March 2012 when Mother Nature provided perfect spring weather for bud break and early grape development. This was followed by textbook Napa Valley summer days and nights: not too hot and not too cold. In the Leonardini Vineyard daytime temperatures averaged about 80 degrees and the nights were in the mid 50’s throughout summer and into fall. The grapes were harvested on October 20th at optimum balance.
