2019 Malbec

$40.00 per bottle   /   $34.00 club price

This 2019 Malbec is deep in color, aromas and flavors. With an almost magenta color, it is loaded with rich and fragrant characters of blueberry cobbler, licorice, sweet cedar, black plums, and a touch of cinnamon.  This is a full-bodied, balanced wine, with flavors jumping out of the glass. It provides generous amounts of juicy blackberries, crème de cassis, brown sugar, subtle toastiness, integrated tannins, and black plums.

Upon hand harvesting, our Malbec was carefully destemmed and sent to tank for a whole berry fermentation. The fermentation temperature never rose above 82° F, which allowed for a warm extraction from the skins. After fermentation and pressing, the wine went to 45% new French oak, 55% neutral French oak barrels, aging for 20 months. This wine was unfined and unfiltered.

The 2019 vintage was a near-perfect growing season. Bud break began in late March, leading to a Spring that had few showers and was relatively dry. Summer was also quite warm and long, leading into a steady Autumn harvest season. The consistent summer weather encouraged our Petit Verdot grapes to ripen in late October when they were in perfect balance. The Malbec grapes in the Winery Vineyard were harvested on October 11th, 2019.
