WINEMAKER NOTESThese grapes are grown less than one-half mile from the winery, on the northern edge of the Rutherford AVA. This vineyard produces grapes that have been used in some of Napa Valley’s storied wines for the past half-century. The Leonardini Family bought the vineyard in 2000 and improved the impeccable quality with modern viticultural practices. The wine was aged 65% new French oak and 35% neutral French oak barrels, for 26 months. The final blend is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon unfined and unfiltered.
THE VINTAGEThe 2016 growing year was picture perfect in Rutherford. Our Cabernet Sauvignon grape berries grew beautifully but small with outstanding concentration and excellent skin to juice ratio. Made from hand-picked grapes in three small vineyard blocks of our Millennium MM vineyard, the Cabernet Sauvignon grape vines selected were clone 7, clone 30 and clone 169.
